Bahimiron-Rebel Hymns of Left Handed Terror (Moribund)
When it comes to judging and critiquing the overall merit of this Texas squad’s third LP proper, one must inevitably take into account exactly how much appeal this sort of bestial black metal possesses for a listener.
It’s been well documented at this point how many bands are studied in the Blasphemy/Conqueror style of blackened war metal, and that mixing this chaotic noise with some Beherit and Black Witchery influence is nothing new at the end of the day. That being said, does Bahimiron add anything new to the mix or bring some added musical excitement to the table?
Not really, but the quartet certainly have their priorities straight when it comes to choosing quality riffs ‘n rhythms, all the while making sure that the production-gasp!-actually isn’t a godawful mess? This latter part is particularly crucial when it comes to enjoying the tunes laid down here by Bahimiron on Rebel Hymns of Left Handed Terror. Beyond being audible, the songwriting is above average and accentuated by hideous, gurgled vocals and the strangled, divebombing strings of Krag and Grimlord, all combining into an effort which, although not likely to set the world alight-is another strong soldier for Satan’s growing barbaric army. Definitely recommended for fans of the style.
